Eligibility for SBI tenders

Usually, empanelled contractors of SBI invited to participate in SBI tenders. An empanelled contractor means that SBI enters into a annual contract with a business (empanelled contractor) based on an area. This empanelled contractor/business will be responsible for taking care of the tender works in that area. However, the empanelled contractors will have to participate in the SBI open tenders and become the winning bidder to get a contract with SBI.

For example, imagine SBI has electrical work pending at one of its branches in Jabalpur. SBI will publish a notice inviting a tender to finish the pending work on its website. The only eligible candidates for the tender will be empanelled contractors from the region of Jabalpur.

Follow these steps to become an empanelled contractor with SBI:

Step 1: Visit the official SBI website

Step 2: Click on ‘SBI in News’

Step 3: Click on ‘Show More’

Step 4: Click on ‘Empanelment of Vendors’

Here you will have tender notices inviting companies to become empaneled contractors to SBI.

SBI empanelment of vendors meaning

SBI empanelment of vendors means that SBI selects a few vendors for annual contracts for the work scheduled in SBI branches. These vendors are companies that deal with different services like electrical work, building renovations, etc. Once you become an empaneled contractor you can bid for SBI tenders through CPPP.

How to apply for SBI tenders?

The first thing to do will be to create an account on the e-Procurement portal or the CPPP. Once you login to the e-Procurement portal, you can search for SBI tenders on the CPPP. Searching for SBI online tenders using the steps mentioned above is the easiest way to find these tenders.

Once you download the tender document read carefully through the instructions. The details will have the application process mentioned with instructions on how to submit your bids. Some tender announcements ask bidders to finish the complete process online while others require technical bids to be submitted physically in an envelope.

Example 1

Look at the example of submission details of a tender document announcing a tender for ‘Electrical works for the new premises’:

“Bidders should take a printout of the “Form of Submission of tender & Process Compliance Statement” in their letter head for acceptance of the terms and conditions specified in the Tender Documents (NIT, BOQ, etc) and send a scanned copy of these duly signed letters to M/s. e-Procurement technologies Limited prior to e-price bidding,” indicates the tender document.

“The Technical Bid, EMD if any, Form of Submission of tender & Process Compliance Statement applicable for online tenders, in Physical for shall be submitted in a sealed envelope superscribed on top as “TENDER FOR ……………………………… (Name of the work): TECHNICAL BID” and addressed to the Regional Manager as stated above and dropped in the tender box kept at the office of the Regional Manager as stated above or send so as to reach the office of the Regional Manager as stated above, on or before the scheduled date and time,’ continues the document.

“The Price Bid shall be submitted online, on or before the scheduled date and time,” completing the bid submission process.

This means that the technical bid along with the specified documents must be submitted physically. The price bid must be submitted online on the CPPP on the bid opening date.

Example 2

Have a look at another example of the submission process of an SBI online tender announcing ‘Interior electrical works’:

“Electronically Sealed e-tenders are invited from the Bank’s Empanelled Contractors as mentioned in NIT (Notice Inviting Tender) in two parts, i.e. Cover – I and Cover –II separately Sealed tenders in two parts i.e. cover-I and cover- II are to be submitted online on the website: https://www.tenderwizard.com/SBIETENDER”

Therefore, you can see that each tender document has a specific way of bid submission. Some of the tender bid submissions are to be made on the Tender Wizard portal.

Documents to be submitted

There will be documents specific to each tender project that must be submitted by vendors. Other documents to be submitted includes:

  • PAN Card
  • Income tax returns
  • Complete KYC of the firm/directors/partners/individual etc.
  • Form of submission of tender
  • Process Compliance Statement

SBI tenders are mostly valued around ₹10 Lakh and above. Finding and applying for these tenders are very easy. But do remember that SBI tenders mostly invite empanelled vendors for all their work requirements.
