This certificate is known as the Udyam registration certificate (previously called Udyog Aadhaar certificate) and is issued by the Ministry of MSME. It comes with a unique 19-digit URN number and QR code using which your business details can be accessed. You will require this URN number and e-Certificate to avail government schemes, subsidies and exemptions for MSME businesses.

Difference between Udyog Aadhaar and Udyam certificate

Empowering MSMEs has always been a priority for the government. In 2015, it launched the Udyog Aadhaar portal to enable MSMEs to register themselves. The portal (also known as Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum) through a detailed, lengthy process required businesses to furnish adequate information. In the end, a 12-digit UAM number and certificate would be provided.

Udyam, launched in July 2020 is an upgrade from Ugyog Aadhaar. The government has requested all users to shift to the Udyam portal (re-register themselves). Businesses with UAM numbers can access the Udyam portal to verify Udyog Aadhaar registration and even print/download UAM certificate.
