IPR can relate to books, paintings, software, brand logo, etc. If IPR assets are used without permission, it is considered IPR infringement.

The 4 main types of IPR in India are: -Copyright -Patents -Trademarks -Trade Secrets

Copyright This protects literary and artistic works (e.g., books, music, movies, designs) from unsolicited distribution or copy.

Patents To protect the innovation of gadgets, machines, chemical  compounds, etc.  E.g., Patents for Tech and Pharma company discoveries 

Trademarks Used for brands, slogans, symbols etc.  It confirms product/brand originality, fosters loyalty, and distinguishes it from competitors.

Trade secrets Protects any intellectual secret that gives a business competitive advantage – e.g., a recipe, formula, design, process etc.
